IMPORTANT INFORMATION

  • Why do FAQs matter?
Because inquiring minds want to know. Some people don't know what to ask or how to ask what they want to know. You only know what you know so feel free to ask us anything. We will give you answer, even if it has nothing to do with the question. We don't want to be rude and ignore people so ask away.
  • What is an FAQ section?
An FAQ is a quick way to get quick answers that others may have already asked.
  • Where can I add my FAQs?
If you are already visiting our website, you can send us an email or message right from the site. You can also ask us questions on our YouTube channel, facebook page, or Tik Tok. Aside from raising Quail and Chickens, I'm a license therapist so I like talking with people. NO, I cannot be your therapist, just throwing that out there ahead of time :)
  • What are quail and what's the difference between Quail and Chicken
Quail are a small gamebird that are not related to Chicken. We do have a blog section and an education section on the website to go into more detail. We also have a YouTube and Tik Tok account with more information. Generally, quail are about 8-10oz. compared to 5-8lbs for chicken.
  • What do quail taste like? Do they taste like chicken?
Quail taste like quail. They do not taste like chicken, duck or other commonly eaten birds. They have their own distinct taste. They are a darker meat bird and when you cook them, you do not need to get an internal temperature of 160-165 like chicken or duck. Quail are usually only found in fine dining restaurants which is why you don't see them often in the grocery stores. My personal opinion is they are very tender and a little sweet but it really comes down to seasoning and preparation.
  • Are quail loud like chicken roosters?
The male quail can have a loud chirping sound that your neighbors may wonder what is it and why won't it shut up. The females do make sounds but typically they are very quiet. Bob White male's sound like a normal bird out in the wild but I think they sound kind of soothing. With multiple male Coturnix, I think they compete to see who can be louder but they are still not as loud as a chicken Rooster. My neighbors can confirm that my chicken rooster, Dom, likes to wake everyone up within a 500 mile radius at 4:52am every morning.
  • Where can I find Quail?
Coturnix Quail are a species of quail that have been bred in captivity for a thousand years. So you won't find those in the wild like you will other species of Quail like the Northern Bob White. The Northern Bob White is a different species of quail and you can find them in many different US States in the wild. This is typically the type of quail most people think of, or the California Quail that has a really cool crest on its head. We do sell live quail and hatching quail eggs and are NPIP certified, meaning we can ship or send across state lines. However, we choose not to get involved with shipping eggs or birds and only offer farm pickup or delivery if close the NE Ohio area. We often receive messages on shipping or if there is someone with quail near them, so we have a section on our website that assist you with locating quail in your state or territory and you can contact them to see if they offer shipping.
